i want to start a fishing club at my highschool, but im affraid when i put it on a college application it may HURT my chances of getting accepted if the dean of admissions is against killing animals lol.

is this something to realistically be worried about or no? thanks

i mean yeah im against killing any animals, but fishing...come on now.

Shouldn't be problem, especially if you go through all the hoops you need to ensure you're within the bounds of the law. As long as your club meets all the legal requirements (licenses, etc) starting and managing a club will only help you.

Besides, as someone else said, the selection committee will have at least 2 different people read your application.

Well the dean of admissions usually isn't always the only person looking at applications. Many times certain areas are given to a certain admissions counselor and they are the ones to decide your fate. You can actually call the school and get the exact name and phone number of the person reviewing you application.. so don't worry so much, maybe the person reviewing your application is really into fishing!

I doubt that should be of concern, hopefully admissions officers are above allowing personal beliefs prejudice them against specifc extra-curriculuar activities.
