yes. if you die for it you can lead it.
but really, it's what the majority decide. it is a democracy, after all.

Because a military service requirement for the presidency would be un American. Suppose you have a deserving naturalized citizen who's in a wheelchair, or otherwise unfit to serve on active duty?
We must never forget that the military is subordinate to the civilian leadership of our nation. A proposal like this gives the "warrior class" more rights to power than lifelong civilians.
Oh yes: Wartime service covers a great deal. Suppose I serve my wartime service in a supply depot in Barstow, California? Should I really get an extra boost for the presidency over a guy who served his 4 years in the infantry during peacetime? Who had the harder gig?

If you can change the Constitution for that reason, go ahead and try! The Constitution is not easy to alter, and the idea you have asked about is hardly a priority. Face it, there are millions upon millions of people in America including millions of GI's who are born and raised right here in America.
Being a citizen is one thing, being able to take the job of President is another, apples and oranges, or natural born leaders and all the others.

I think anyone can run. But only a native-born citizen can serve. At the time they wrote the constitution, I think they were worried that King George's grandson, or one of the other European royals might become President and return us to monarchy.
If people really wanted Arnold to be elected, perhaps they will amend it. But I think its unlikely.
I do think that any qualified alien who wants to serve in the US military during wartime should be automatically naturalized though. The rule that limits recruitment to green-card holders is stupid.

You should read this book, which I did for a research project on this topic. It will answer any question you have regarding allowing naturalized citizens the right to run for president.
http://www.amazon.com/Patriots-Choice-Granting-Naturalized-President/dp/1589094352/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1198135854&sr=1-8
I did not support the issue before I read this book. Now I do.

No one says they can't my friend. But obviously they would have to have a good knowledge of law, both home and international along with all the other necessary life experiences. After all, we wouldn't want just anyone having there finger on the button of something that would destroy the world in just a few days eh.

Hitler, Stalin and Napoleon were all naturalized citizens with good war records. There was a reason our founding fathers made that rule.

It wouldn't bother me, but the Constitution explicitly excludes these. An amendment would be necessary.

No. That's why the men that drew up our Constitution the way they did simply prevents that possibility.

I think if you add a time of citizenship to that requirement, then yes - I have no problem with it.
