Adult killer whales eat approximately 3% to 4% of their body weight in food per day. That means a 12,000 lbs (5,454.5 kg) killer whale will consume about 480 lbs (218 kg) of food daily.

That's how they are calculating the average-sized orcas killer whale's daily food consumption which is estimated as about 500 pounds (227 kilograms) of food a day.
