no. stats can be deceiving (marbury), so can being on the right team (bibby). marbury is a master at leading his teams to the lottery, he'll get all his points and assist making him look very much like an elite point guard... but still always ends up on the losing end. and bibby sounds like kermit the frog... sorry personal beef. bibby has never shown the leadership skills a true elite point guard needs vision on the court, and unselfish passing, being the first line of defense. mike likes to shot and does it well, but is terrible as running the fast break and lacks any type of defense. plus, he has that damn penguin walk when he does something good... yeah, thats friggin' hard core. you show 'em mike... wit' yer weird waddling... that'll teach 'em.

or not.

again personal beef. sorry you all had to read that.

Marburry is certainly among the lower end of point gaurds in the league...although he makes superstar type money...way to go knicks.

Bibby is not an elite point gaurd but he falls in the next tier of players. He is one of the best shooters off the pick and roll and can drain the three. But he is a shooting point gaurd and lacks the ability to drive and kick that a chris paul, steve nash, derron williams have in their arsenal. Bibby is coming off a career low in shooting percentage and is still on the DL for a few more weeks. We'll see if he comes back better than last year when he played through a thumb injury.

Right now, I don't think he's the best point guard in the league and with the little talent on the Hornets roster he likely won't be this year either. Great point guards were great on their own yes, but they had good players around them too. In Chris' defense, not even Magic Johnson could make team of mostly scrubs play great. I do think that Chris Paul was the greatest point guard in the league a couple seasons ago when the Hornets were winning. Right now I'd say that Steve Nash is best point guard because he has a knack for making otherwise mediocre players good. At 36 he is still quick, dropping 10+ dimes a game and by far the best shooting point guard around.

Marbury has NEVER been an elite NBA point guard; he does not have a PG's game, never has. He is a very small shooting guard, always has been. And although he was a good scorer earlier in his career, he now ranks somewhere between #20-30 at the SG position. He's been overrated since he came out of high school in Brooklyn...the guy has never played for a winner since then. D

Were they ever one of the NBA's elite point guards? I say no. They're good...but elite? That's a stretch.

Marbury has seen the playoffs other than on TV only once in his career. Not good for an elite PG.

Bibby has basketball in his blood, but he's been a scoring PG most of his career. And after Webber and Stoyakovic left the Kings he's been a bit of a disappointment. He's been good, maybe great, but elite...I'm sorry, but no.

What the hell have you been smoking? Marbury isn't even an elite player even in his prime. Whenever you take him out of a team, that team makes the playoffs farther than he ever would.

Mike Bibby is different. He was in his prime for 2-3 seasons then he went downhill from there.

There are not.

Were they ever?

Depends on definition of elite. If selection at all star games or performance at playoff is the measurement. I still think they were at one point of their careers.

Starburry was once exciting. Bibby was one of the better decision makers.

No. They haven't done anything. Marbury has not made the playoffs and Bibby hasn't even played in the Finals.

No longer elites... Bibby pretty much disappeared in the name of basketball. Marbury is just.... unsportsmanlike....

Whenever did Marbury join the elite? He should join the And1 guys or the Globetrotters, that's where his showboating belongs.

Bibby WAS good - not elite, but good.
