Many scholars believe that during Jesus' so-called lost years he was in fact studying Buddhism, which predates Christianity by 500 years. As you have pointed out the similarities would appear to confirm that. How can you be a Christian and a racist? Aren't all human beings the children of your one true God? People of all colors respect the wisdom of the Enlightened One. Perhaps if you acquainted yourself more thoroughly with His teachings you could see beyond skin color.

the issues of 'suffering' (per the Buddha) and 'sin' (per Jesus) are nowhere near the same. The Buddha said that life involves the element of suffering, which is caused by attachments that don't make sense ---- usually, you can figure these are attachments to control and gain, all of which turn out to be ethereal and will-o-the-wisp. They are illusory, and cannot be satisfying. Hence our suffering. But, the Buddha did not teach on the existence or non-existence of a God or Gods --- he simply wouldn't pick that up. He made clear that was not the issue he was addressing. He was VERY clear that he was not a god.
Jesus stated that he and the Father (God) were One ---- and, he said that man's suffering was due to separation from God through sin. Belief in him was, as he said, the way to resolve that suffering.
So, please note ----- in many ways, Jesus and the Buddha addressed very different things.

Buddha didnt go out seeking a cure for human suffering; he went out to find peace and meditate. he then taught what he learned from meditating about spirituality. There are no stories he cured anyone. Buddha wasnt tempted by anyone. He chose to go to a cave and meditate. He was so into it that he didnt even care when birds took a crap on his head. That's why you see his head is full of round pellets; they aint jerry curls by the way. He didnt use water to wash away sins either. Only a certain group of Indians (from India) practice that Ganges river thing. Not all of them do, because they all follow different paths of Vishnu....aka different reincarnations of Vishnu who comes down to Earth to teach, every now and then. There are parallels, but you will find more in common between Jews, Muslims, and Christians than with Buddhism.

It's not even similar at all. Buddha comes from buddhism, Jesus Christ comes from Christianity.
Look up Revelation 22:10.

Basically all of the religions would be exactly the same in that they preach equality, love, compassion and acceptance in one way or another. If you can find a religion that does not preach that then you got yourself a cult. So you can compare all you want and you will always find parallels. Just remember to be a good person and good will happen. However as a Buddhist I will add that reincarnation is a big part of the belief and Christianity is strictly against that.

Buddha is dead...Jesus rose from the dead. And water does not wash away our sins. The blood that Jesus shed by dying on the cross did. And the "world" doesn't want us to spread salvation and the truth to those who have not heard it.

possibly, yet Muslims see Jesus in a diverse way than Christians do. To Christians, Jesus is God; while to a Muslim, Jesus is in hassle-free terms merely one among a protracted line of prophets. For a Christian there are 2 important commandments that are extra important than all the others and that they are recent in Mark 12:29-31 "the in the beginning of the commandments is, hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy innovations, and with all thy power: it somewhat is the 1st commandment. And the 2nd is like, specifically this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. there is none different commandment extra advantageous than those." Muslims, on the different hand, have no such commandment to love their neighbours.

They are similar but not the same. Many religions are similar, as most people usually believe things along the same lines, no matter where or how they live.
P.S. After reading thes many other peoples' responses I find it funny that so many find offense to your suggestion. They think of one supossedly HUGE difference, and automatically believe that that makes the two religions COMPLETELY different. As you can see, religious tolerance is not very common among my fellow Christians.
P.P.S. I take back my last comment somewhat. Some people here have brains.
