What do they need to do before they have the privilege of being one of your contacts? :)

For shy reasons - I've never added a person before being requested. I just don't feel worthy of inviting people. That doesn't include the contacts I knew from previous accounts when opening a new one ;)

I use a contact as a way of bookmarking people who ask, answer and/or star questions I find interesting, questions I may want to answer myself, inspiring questions that make me think, funny questions that make me laugh, useful questions, and so on.
Sometimes I think I may like to make someone a contact but their Q&A are hidden on their profile so I can't check them out. One way around that is to google them. For example if your Q&A was hidden & I wanted to check your Q&A out I'd google on:
[James site:answers.yahoo.com]
If I don't get many hits on google then, as a last resort to check them out I'll make them a contact so that I can see their Q&A. After that if I like what they write and what they star I'll keep them, otherwise not. (I don't like doing that as it feels wrong somehow to befriend them, look them over, then sometimes dump them, but there's no other way of doing it.)

they need to have answered your questions or question politely and u should look at their answers and see if they are not rude

Usually I add people who love Harry Potter (like I do) or have Harry-Potter-related screennames or questions/answers, but sometimes I add people because I know them or because they added me.
