He's just doing what Republicans do best...pandering to the ignorant. Religion has no place in government and the government has no place in religion, but he's counting on a large percentage of voters to be too dumb to know that. I hope they're not the majority this time. I trust that some have learned their lesson from their mistakes with Bush.
By the way, I'm not a "Christian hater". I was born and raised as a Christian, but I'm sick and tired of seeing hypocrites violating the First Amendment just to gain more power. An elected official's first loyalty should be to the Constitution, because it's his sworn duty to uphold it.
I love Christmas as much as anyone, but buying time on TV to try to convince people to vote for him by pretending to be more pious than all of the other candidates is hypocritical and unethical. That's what I mean by "pandering to the ignorant", because only the most gullible voters would be taken in by such a transparent sham.
