im pretty sure they dont do it when their tired or else they would be doing it more often.

A common behavior in leos. Sometimes reptiles will yawn around shedding time to help loosen the skin around their mouths.

Probably the same reason people yawn....they need a little bit more oxygen

Watch, take a few short breaths, like hardly breathing, and youll find yourself needing to yawn. Its probably the same with all animals

when very relaxed they tend to breath slower then there body's tell them then more oxygen this is why thy inhale very deeply then exhale
