case off & put on a silver 1??

its doubtful. buy a broken silver one off ebay and replace the cover yourself. this will void any warranty.
question for you: the black destinguished the 8GB nano. silver distinguished mediocrity. KEEP THE BLACK!

err... i work in the apple store in manchester uk, and no you cant, you could do it if you want but would void your warranty straight away. Just buy a iskin in black for it. Most of the time its in your pocket anyway.
