If you have seen the movie, you know what I am talking about....How many of you, if given the oppotunity, would do something ...anything, for someone else just to help them out, and ask for nothing in return, only that they pay the favor forward to someone else they can help that really needs it?

I think more people need to open there hearts and help others around them without being asked to do so. Society in America has become so selfish and materialistic. I do not think that was Gods plan to think of yourself first, and maybe your brother and neighbor, if/when you have time. We are all in this together as family, we need to stick together, and take care of each other.
If you have not seen the movie, I suggest you get it for a loved one & yourself for Christmas.
I was on my way home from the movie store one night, (not with this movie) and There was a couple on the side of the highway with a flat. It was busy and dark, so I swung around, and shined my lights for him and other traffic to see, and offered my help. He was shocked that I stopped. I told him I am always looking to help others. He said it reminded him of this movie, and he was going to pay it forward. I went back to the movie store and bought the movie.

I've seen the movie twice and it rocks. This is what happened to me. I became friends with this girl on MySpace and I really wanted to go to this concert but didn't have enough money, and we didn't know one another well, and she actually went on Ebay and BOUGHT me a ticket to the show. She spent like $60! I was so amazed, I was speechless. I asked her what I could do in return for her kindness and she replied, "Do something nice for someone else."

I love that movie. It has such a good message. I try and "Pay it Forward" every day. It is not easy. But if I succeed then my day is complete.

I work for a podiatrist and I like to think my helping the people who are hurting and needing help will go out and help someone else. I know that our Diabetics are so grateful to me when I cut their toenails for them and that make my day.

I've seen the movie a few times... liked it quite a bit.

As for doing the 'pay it forward' deed... I've given money to the homeless a couple times... helped someone pick their stuff up after they fell and dropped their things... I've done quite a few good deeds without asking for anything. But I've never asked anyone to pay it forward. Sounds like a thoughtful idea, but I never figured it would work.

It's called good karma. Like when you are coming out of a store and someone is trying to enter and you hold the door for them, or you see a little old lady having difficultly with her shopping bags and you help her. My parents raised me to do these things as common curtsies. I am now trying to teach my own children the same thing.

I have these rules: do good deeds when you can, and whatever Oprah says, don't do. Oprah is the queen philanthropy for profit.
Personally, I don't ask people to pay it forward, I just do it. Even though that's the case, I believe that each person has a selfish motive behind everything they do.

I never got to see the movie but did see the previews. It looked so awesome. I would and have done something anonymously to help someone else. That makes it more fun.
And somehow it always gets *paid forward* even though we don't say a word.

Actually, I was on the way home from seeing that movie with my then 10 or 11 year old sister. There was a car broke down on the freeway so we stopped and pushed them to the nearest gas station (at the next exit) and told them to pay it forward.......hope they did :-)

I am anonymous here so I can tell you that I have done it and I never tried to see the results but I can tell you that I felt wonderful about it for a long time.
A mentor of mine once told me that you should ALWAYS tell someone when you screw up but you should NEVER tell someone when you do a good deed. Telling takes away the merit of having done it for no gain.
Kinda like a secret good deed savings account.

I do that kind of thing already. It's kind of like how smiles are contagious (yawns are, too, but that's another story), or how when you hold the door for someone they hold it for the next person...things like that. I like it. Considering how antisocial we're becoming it's nice to see simple things like doing something nice for someone else without any favor asked in return.
