World peace is a relative term. What do you see as world peace? Religious harmony? Political calm? Racial acceptance? There are many points to consider in speaking of world peace. It is not unreasonable that these changes will take a considerable amount of time to address.
I don't think that it is impossible to achieve these goals, but there are some factors that need to occur in order to facilitate these changes. There are decades, and in some cases centuries, of distrust, hatred, and resentment that need to be addressed before any meaningful progress can be made. Human beings are emotional creatures and regardless of intelligent and rational debate, emotion will undoubtedly be a factor that will impede the process.
Will peace be achieved in our lifetime? I think it is safe to say that it's not likely. But that doesn't mean that it can't be achieved. And it doesnt mean that we should lessen our efforts or give up, because even though we may not be here, our descendants will. If we are to leave them with a chance of a better life, we must try.

No, I don't. But it gets worse than that. In the "old" days (I'm 54), who cared whether some two bit, "third world" countries, malignant and criminal dictators, were shooting at each other with "bows and arrows". The worst that could happen is that half of these idiots would be wiped out.
Nowadays, though, the same two bit (but no longer "third world"---it's all one world today) bullies have the power of the computer, "random", left over, stolen or purchased nuclear fuel, oil (ie, a necessary resource and a source of untold wealth), etc, etc.
So "progress", while a good thing short term, will ultimately be, I fear, the end of all of us. There are too many jealous zealots (couching themselves in terms of religious practitoners) out there, for the human race to survive, in my opinion. There are also too many old and vicious religions out there, that these psychopaths cling to, which, to this day command that a woman who doesn't wear a veil should get 40 lashes, that a rape VICTIM should get 70 lashes, etc, etc, etc. That wasn't even arguably appropriate thousands of years ago!
The vast majority of the "troublesome" individuals on this earth have the money, the ability, the religion, and the zeal to do us all in----and they don't care. 40 Virgins when you meet Allah! Isn't it amazing to think that the people who are going to destroy this planet use that phrase as a "Mantra", and their idiotic disciples are motivated by that?

People will not bring peace. Jeremiah 10:23. But Jehovah will. Psalm 37:9-11, 29.

I don't know. Some days I do. Some days I don't. It depends on my mood. Right now, I'd say probably not.
But, really, I don't think it matters that much. Whether it's likely, whether it's probable, whether or not it's even possible! Because you can never say if something is possible or not. If you went up to a slave owner in 1800, and told him that one day, a black man would be a serious presidential candidate, he'd tell you it was impossible. Nothing's impossible. And if there is the slightest, slimmest, tiniest little snowball's chance that there could be a world without war, without tyranny, without hatred, wouldn't that be worth anything to secure? It's the ultimate gamble. If we play, we'll probably lose. But if we don't, we've already lost.

I love how negative every response is to this question. I think that a big part of the problem is that in itself. We psychosomatically drive ourselves into the impossibility of world peace by our views towards it. It is relative to the Descartes quote, "I think; therefore I am." So everyone out in the world is doing nothing but inhibiting the possibility of peace by this kind of reaction to the question.
Okay, moving on. World peace is very possible. Lou Marinoff, and Immanuel Kant are my favorite philosophers in showing how it CAN be achieved. Read about Kant's Universal Law, and also check out The Middle Way by Lou Marinoff.
The first step to achieving world peace is by first accepting its possibility of existing.

Sorry but no, i don't believe so. If it does happen tho, it is a proven fact that things always get worse before they get better, even in a time of peace there are still worries and things to fear. We can only hope for the best in the future of our world.

To a person who finds the eternal light and peace within themselves, it doesn't matter what others are doing.
So you can have a world of peace within yourself. It's all up to you. This explains the means by which it is done.
