Would you be mad if Bush gave oil companies a $247 million tax break if they inturn funded a campaign for legislation he wanted passed that would raise taxes on oil? Just wonder how real Democrats would feel about this.

This is exactly what is going on in LA by Democrats. The city is giving $247 million in tax breaks to a private company in exchange the company will fund the mayor’s initiative to raise taxes.

Currently there is a 10% tax that will most likely be ruled illegal, so Los Angeles wants a new tax on the ballot for 9%. They're calling it a tax decrease, but in reality there will be NO tax unless the voters approve a 9% increase.

How much more dishonest can these people be?

I would not believe that the oil companies would be that stupid. Because the oil is sold in world markets, it would cost the oil companies billions over time because the higher price due to the tax would reduce demand in the US and lower the price in world markets.

so what's new? The oil companies would just raise the price of oil to cover the taxes, and the beat goes on and you'd be screwed by the man you love.

It's too funny, really.

No, I expect absurdity from the Government. That sounds like the type of redundant act that Bush is perfectly capable of doing.
