want something good not necessarly the best but want to pay a reasonable amount not $1000's

The laptop market is so competitive, I really don't think you need to wait. What you do need to do FIRST, is decide what you will be using the laptop for.

If you want to play games, or edit video files for example, budget units may not suit your needs. The most important spec for laptops is the graphics. The better the built-in graphics the more the laptop costs!!! And, graphics is seldom upgradeable.

For basic Word processing, Emailing and web surfing, etc., budget laptops are perfect.

You should wait until after Christmas. Prices should go down significantly. If you live in Canada, I would buy the laptop on Boxing Day (December 26). On this day, everything will usually be on sale (except in Costco). But, remember, this sale on Boxing Day is only in Canada.

Even we have a Boxing day sale( 26 Dec) here in Australia as well..

see what the prices are like now, but buy after new year, the prices should go down
