wifi comes with the ipod, it's free you just have to connect to an unlocked network with a strong connection, and i believe that it's worth the price because of all the cool features but then again my spoiled self got it for my birthday with pink gumy headphones so i wouldn't know...

Yes and No
1. Is it worth the price, probably not but when something like this first comes out of course its going to be prices high but i have been so happy with my ipod touch. If you wait a few months down the line ye proibably will come down in price. Just buy one.
How do you get wifi, well wifi is built in like bluetooth would be on a phone. If you understand how wireless works on a laptop wifi on the ipod works the same way.
Right i have a wireless network or router in my house ok, called "network1". I turn my ipod on go to settings make sure wifi is switched on, it will automatically search and give you a list of all the wireless networks in your area with signal strengths. When it finds you see the network which is in our case network1 you tap it, now if it has a padlock next to it then will ask you for the key, you enter it then it will remember it for next time. Then your connected. Everytime then when you come home say network1 will be remembered and u wont have to connect each time it will connect straight away as long as your wireless is switched on.
Wireless is free if your in a wifi area, the only charges are to you or whoever pays the phone bills, like if your at home, you pay for the internet wont you or ytour parents will. But if your in a hotel more than likely you will have to pay for it by the hour.
Wireless isnt a service, its a way of connecting to a network.
You pay nothing when you buy an ipod.

I don't have one myself yet (though I'm planning on getting one), so I won't answer the first question, but...
Wi-fi depends on if you already have a wireless network set up or if you're in a place that has one. If you're at home and you have wi-fi set up (say, for the computers), you can simply log the iPod touch on to that network. If you're in a place (i.e. some trucker stops I've been to while moving) that charges for wi-fi access, those charges apply whether you're on an iPod touch or a laptop or whatever.

first of all wifi is a built in feature that you pay for when you buy it (its in the $400), you can use it all the time without ever worrying about fees or stuff like that. and wifi is a wireless connection that you can get most places. it won't work everywhere but its still cool. you can use it at starbucks and anywhere you get a signal. and you don't have to do anything to get wifi on the touch. it should be set to automatically pick up any signal it can find so all you have to do is go somewhere with a signal and you can surf the net. and personally i think its worth the price, however i'm sure the price will go down and they will come out with more capacity but that always happens. you can't stop that so if you like it get it.

Definitely worth the $$$$. You need wireless internet which you can use at home if you have it or at a Starbucks, Panera Bread, or any other place like that. The Wi-Fi is 100% free!
