I can't for the life of me remember which day last week I took my last pill.

Does it matter if my educated guess is wrong, and I have a 6 or 8 day break?

That is what inactive pills are for. They are reminder pills, so you know when to start a new pack.

If your pill free break is longer than seven days you will lose your contraceptive cover. Use a barrier method (i.e. a condom) for the next seven days. A break of less than seven days wont matter.
Also, if you're had sex in the past few days you may be at risk of being pregnant.

maybe slighty, depends on the pill your taking, some are very strict on accuracy and timing some aren't so much if your not sure then when you start taking the pill use a condom for a week or 2 to be on the safe side
