Does black hair actually exist?

What sort of dark-haired people have you met? Yes! There are many people with black hair~everywhere! Dark brown is a far cry~and color~from black, ebony, jet, raven or however else you want to describe it. Some people have an almost bluish sheen; then it's called raven's wing black, at least among writers. There's coal black hair, too, which seems not to give back any shininess.

So, why this very odd question?

EDIT: My sister was born with a beautiful head of black hair~jet black~and black eyes that lightened slightly to dark brown about the time she was one year old. But, the jet hair stayed until she was in her 20s, when it started taking on an auburn sheen. You see, our family is a mix of Irish and American Indian aka Native American. My father was what is called black Irish, with coal-black hair, dark brown eyes and skin that turned coppery when he tanned; some people say that this is a trait from the survivors of the Spanish Armada mixing into the Irish population though I've never looked into it. The rest of us "show our Irish" with coppery red/auburn hair and dark brown eyes. I have a mane of bright auburn hair. Oddly, my father was born with auburn hair that turned dark when he was about 13~all the way to a true black, with no sign of color when he was in the sun. My mother had bright red hair that gradually darkened to a cinnamon brown by the time she was 30. Then, there's my aunt, my mom's oldest sister, who was born with platinum hair~the palest blonde, a true silver color. By the age of 12, she had black hair, what some call "Indian black". Strangely, all of us are born with dark eyes that look nearly black~never the odd blue of many babies~but light slightly to dark brown.

So, we're accustomed to lots of coloration surprises and know what's black and what's brown, which many people refer to as being "brownette", with "brunette" reserved for black hair.

So, my answer is: Yes! It does exist!

thats weird, I was thinking about this earlier!!
Mine looks very dark but in the sun you can see its a dark brown/red colour. My dog is black though, but sometimes in the sun, she looks an extremely dark brown. There was a young girl I taught last year though who had the most gorgeous hair, sleek and black (she had Vietnamese parents) and even in the sun it was jet black. She has the most wonderful head of hair, so Yeah, I guess Im saying it does exist :)))

Yeah, it exists. I have a couple of friends with black hair.

My friend has really, really dark brown hair and it looks black but it isn't.

true black hair does excist but only in black people like the black people from africa the other forms of natural black hair is just really really dark brown hair

I've heard that all hair is diff shades of brown from blonde to black but I do believe that Asians have naturally black hair.

I know for a fact that Jet black hair exists or at least existed, on my wife's head when we were younger. though technically you are right because black is actually the absence of any colour whatsoever!

Yeah, I don't like it when people call my hair black because it's not, it's really dark brown. I'm not saying i don't like black hair but I don't have black hair.

Yeah I have black hair and it's always seemed black to me. I look at it every day ('Cause it covers my eyes sometimes) and I can honestly say that black hair DOES exist.

black hair does exists. for the people in asia. but kids who are asian that is born here, they have really dark brown hair some reason.
