mostly depends on what type of wood flooring you have.depends on how big the scratch is. there are a lot of ways to try and fix it.if its real wood flooring and is just on one or two boards you could hand sand just the boards that are affected. then clean and recoat just the boards with the scratch. but sometimes the damp towel and iron will work.

The only way is to get an industrial floor sanding machine and go over the affected area. The problem is that once sanded, even after re-staining, the sanded area will look different from the rest. Probably best to do the whole floor. The sander will cost the same anyway. Best of luck. It will give you something to do over the holiday. Happy Christmas.

If there is damage through the finish try this method. 1. Get a moist towel and place it over the scratch. 2. Place a med /hot clothes iron directly over the scratch on the moist towel. The moisture will cause the scratch to swell. Try to match the finish with a colored scratch pencil from your local hardware.
