What do you mean?

If you join the military as an active duty soldier/sailor/airman then you will do boot camp then your technical training before you are sent to a 'working' unit. That unit might deploy as soon as you get there, or not for years.

If you're in the National Guard (In the US) or the Territorial Army (in the UK) and your unit is activated for deployment, then you'll almost certainly have some sort of 'shake-down' time between assembling and shipping out.
