I agree with what Kris wrote. They're definitely the most successful franchise of all time, and to argue that would be silly. All you have to do is look at the 26 championships and the huge list of superstars that have worn the pinstripes throughout the years.
However, to suggest that they've operated on a level playing field is incorrect. I think it's admirable that the Steinbrenners spend whatever it takes to win, but they're not putting themselves in the poorhouse by doing so. They're spending that money because they make an enormous amount off the team. Even if a small market team like the Royals or Rays decided to win even if it meant no profit, they simply wouldn't have the revenue stream needed to compete on that level.
As for those bashing the Yankees, they're just jealous and/or ignorant. To argue against their success makes absolutely no sense.

ok, the yankees are nonetheless a super team, they are going to make a run for the playoffs possibly even make the playoffs. on no account count extensive variety the yankees out. You reported that your annoyed with the aid of fact they havent gained in 7 years do you be attentive to how stupid this is. look on the cubs, 7 years you're able to be happy, you're able to be happy they are between the final communities each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. you're able to be happy you have an proprietor like George who places money lower back into the team to cause them to the final they might, look on the Royals, their proprietor is making a killing with the hot luxary tax and not putting any money lower back into the team. They shouldnt sell off thier intense money participant they could build around them, they have made some undesirable unfastened agent deals taking adult adult males who're out of their best. i admire the yankees, i dont have a familiar team yet followers such as you're making me ill, relish the interest and revel interior the reality which you have a proprietor this is committed to triumphing.

they out dueled several competing teams in the area, (brooklyn dodgers, new york giants, new york mets) for fan base, true, they did buy their players, remember babe ruth, boston bought him for 100,000$ so the owner could finance a musical or play, but they formed their recent dynasty out of several mediocre players that mixed well, made good trades like getting maris for the 1960 season, scouted out gehrig, brought up jeter, this team has more talent then a big wallet,
maybe if the royals took a profit hit, spent some money, brought some players in, won some games, then people might come watch, and i don't mean go good then sell off like the marlins, i mean keep a team together,

If you have ever been to Yankee Stadium there is something about it. A true fan can see some of the greatest moments in baseball history not just from the greatest team but the on going players that step up to the plate and look all around them. No team like the Yankees ever!!!

yES, they have 26 championships. But they spend more money than most teams and being in a large city like New York they generate more revenue so more money to spend than most teams. I would not say all teams are on the same level playing field.. That is why they came up with revenue sharing so more teams could compete.

I don't think there is any way to argue that they aren't the most successful/greatest franchise in baseball history. But as others stated, to think that there's an even playing field between a team that has the resources available to it from a population the size of New York and a team like Kansas City, where the 4 neighboring states barely have the same number of people as there are in NYC, thats just ignoring common sense.

The Yankees are the best franchise in baseball history, that is impossible to deny.
But to say they started from scratch just like every other team isn't exactly correct.
They moved from Baltimore to New York City (the largest city in the world) in 1903. They have the advantage of having more people come to their games than in any other city, so don't try to say it's a level playing field when it comes to the ability to spend money on players.

Yes, excatly how I feel.
But the paycheck gets lots of criticism.... I dont know if Stienbrenner has found out but alot of our big stars weren't traded veterans, they were farm-grown, or at least partially farm-grown. Thats where the paycheck part comes in. I dont want my team to be known for trading young prospects for veterans, which age much quicker, whereas you could keep 2 prospects that evolve into All-stars for 15 years, you only get 1 veteran for 8.
But yes, I believe the Yankees are the greatest baseball team of All-time.
