never arrested for speeding unless there is some other law your breaking at the time that warrants arrest. If you are 25 more above then they usually find something to arrest you on

Cited is one thing, handcuffed and locked up is another. In California, my son (who should know) told me it's going twice the posted speed limit- so, it's 50 in a 25 (city) or 110 in a 55 (freeway). I've had a few tickets, too, and this makes sense. I've done 38 in a 25 and 80 on the freeway. But I've never been arrested. My son foolishly took my Plymouth (318) out of the high school parking lot and "wanted to see how fast it would go." He didn't give the cop any guff, so the cop wrote him up for 48 in a 25. I think the cop didn't want to arrest him, just get him to slow down. That lesson stayed with him a good five or six years.
I guess a lot depends on where you're speeding. Listen, if you want to go fast, don't do it on the street. Find a dragstrip or road course somewhere and have fun. It's safer (no cross traffic or pedestrians) and you won't get your license lifted.

One mile over the posted speed limit is considered speeding, and, yes, you can get arrested for that.

My son was caught driving 103 in a 55 by a state trooper. He was taken to jail and his car was towed.
I know this wasn't part of your question but...
I'm thankful every day that trooper was where he was and caught my son. God only knows what may have happened to him or others if he were left to continue driving in that manner.

most cops will give 3-5 mile leeway over the posted limit. anything over that & you'll be pulled over. anything 25 miles or more over the limit will get you a reckless driving charge...
EDIT: to the person above....you think it takes at least 21 miles over the limit? with my lead foot, i need to live where you live if the cops are that nice!
technically, a police officer can pull you over even if you're one mile over the limit. that's why they call it a limit. but you can most likely contest them in court and get the ticket thrown out by claiming your speedometer must be a little off....

Typically 21 MPH over the limit - but it also depends on road conditions/traffic.
