I have one of those little suitcase safes, in it is copies of all our legal stuff and a copy of everything on my computer, which I load every week. Of course I have all the family pix on disc, photos of everything in the house including closets, drawers, cabinets. This way I can prove ownership for filing for the insurance and a copy of all birth and death certificates for all of the family members as I'm doing our genealogy.
We also try to keep the copies updated in the safety deposit box at the bank. I think about what happens if I'm not there.

Sentimental value would make me want to grab the jewellery box with all my family heirlooms in it.
But realistically i'd grab the draw that contains more than my lifetime of documents, certificates, contracts, insurance, records, photo's ect.
The other loses while very sad, would not be vital, many of those documents could *never* be replaced and are very important.

as long as my young ones and husband are out of the living house then no longer something is that significant. All of our "records" are in a fireproof secure so in the event that they stay to tell the tale super. in the event that they do no longer i gets new copies.
