People can complain about gas prices all they want, but in reality nothing is going to change.
Oil is traded in US dollars and the value of the US dollar has dropped around 35% since 2002. Thus, the OPEC people holding US dollars are not going to drop the price and slit their own throats at the same time.
The fact remains, the US dollar is in free fall mode right now and the lowering of interest rates last week did not help the situation one bit.
Its only a matter of time before holders of the US dollar start getting rid of it and put the US into a depression.

When alternative fuels are in the same abundance as gasoline or greater amount it is likely they will be cheaper. Even if the same price at least money isn't going to people in the Middle East or Latin America who hate us.

according to Energy and Capital news report the oil cartels are doin another price setting, like was done in the 70s!!!
this sets the price at the next base level at which we will all have to get used to and set it as the standard for the next five years!!!
the way things look i would have to say the next baseline price
will be set at $3.00 a gallon!!!
which will be pushing it, plus putting a hurtin on th regular people because the price of goods and servies has went up about 31/2 % with no wage increases!!!
i believe the corn ethanol alternative is not goin to play out in the long run!!!
it is in too much of a demand for human consumption and livestock feed and other byproducts!!!
plus a lot of the country has been in a severe drought situation
for quite a while, and corn needs lots and lots of water!!!
the rivers and aquifiers are being drained dry because of irrigation for the corn, wich will be in more demand because of the forced rise in ethanol use!!!
they didnt look at the long term picture!!!
i guess thats why you need us lefties around, so you righties dont dry up and blow away into the wind, just like the dust-bowl days!!!!!

Dems just finally got an energy bill through and they are the ones complaining? Incredible. It would be More accurate to say alot of people on both side of the fence complain about gas prices. Energy alternatives have also never been a Rep platform. Karl.......is that you?

And what's wrong with that? Of course prices are high and people complain. High prices spur people's inventiveness and can lead to viable alternatives to oil

because no matter what party affiliation, elites love thier private jets and SUVs. Conformity!! People have to drive an SUV because everyone else does, no matter that they come off as hypocrites, it's the American way!! There are plenty of alternatives available, but it would mean an end to high priced European cars, all cars would all be the in the same class....which in our American system of values, would be sacrilige!!

Since I drive a hybrid and drive less then 30 miles a day I do not mind higher gas prices. It would be better if gas prices went up to 4$ and stayed their. Then the economy would be able to adjust the increase in prices and inflation would be in check.

I'm content with gas prices. Please don't overgeneralize.
I just wish that one of the primary causes for the dramatic increase in price wasn't the plummeting value of the dollar. It is estimated this is adding the equivalent of $20/barrel to the price of oil in the U.S.

They tried to get the NOPEC bill passed that would have looked into price fixing by OPEC and big oil and levy heavy fines. Guess what? Your conservatives shot it down and your president threatened to veto it. So stop throwing stones.
