Probably not. I'm in Yorkshire and chances are that if you were in Greece you would have asked the question in Greek rather than English.
In fact in this day and age the municipality of ancient Sparta is actually now known as Sparti.

The film "300" is pretty exciting and has some great visual effects but has very little historical accuracy. For example Sparta was always ruled by two kings at once, the film only shows one of them. Leonidas was actually one of the first Spartans to die in the battle of Thermopylae. In addition to the 300 Spartan warriors there were around 900 helots (Spartan slave/peasant-warriors) and a substantial contingent of Thespians (around 700).

Sorry to dissapoint you, but Arminius was a chieftain of the Cherusci who defeated a Roman army in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. He wasn't a roman...

but YES, this is Sparta, so flee, run for your miserable life before you are condemned to slavery.

Yes, this is SPARTA- while I am sitting her watching the movie "300"! What an incredible movie! The effects were great, the acting was award winning and the men were simply GORGEOUS!

So run out and get your copy on DVD- and please...lets supports our actors and NOT purchase bootlegs!

Kudos to the movie 300!!!!!
