My house has not been burglarized, i am just wondering about these things.

say your house has a security camera's. someone breaks in and steal stuff from you, and you are away on vacation. you get back to town a few days afterwards and are watching the tapes. you call the cops and tell them, they go to arrest the person etc. Then say the person sold the stuff they stole.

Could you then sue them to get the money from the cost of what was stolen?

Money acquired from the sale of stolen money could be recovered by the owner.

it depends on what was stolen.
and i think you could. i'm not sure, that is something you would ask like an attorney or something.
