My roses are starting to wilt, how can I dry the petals so that I can keep them for memories sake?

take wax paper
and put the flower inbetween two sheets of it
then put them in an old book , which can be thrown out
cause sometimes the flower can leave behind a mess
wax paper useally keeps this from happening
but i have found it always the easiest way , when i was doing it along time ago !!

Air drying as listed above may work. Pressing between pages in a book works judging from the number of petals I have on one particular book, but the comment about mess is valid. Some roses and other flowers can be messy. Blotter paper is justed by professional "flower pressers", those pressing for herbarium collections. The acid free and absorbant paper is ideal for pressing. Try art supply stores.....not Hobby Lobby, but real art supply stores.

For roses, you should tie them together and hang them upside down. That way they dry with the petals in tact on top. It should take a few days to a week to completely dry out.

You can hang the roses upside down, in a dry area for a week or so. When they are completely dry, you can then remove the petals and use as potpourri.

Flower press all the way, there's a guy in Eugene at the farmer's market that hand makes them out of wood, and screws. Really the way to go if your into flowers from multiple seasons, or locations, or particularly if you want to collect new species.

When you pick them from a forest you can bring them home and put them in a vase without any water and watch them dry in about a week. Oh and make sure that they are dryable certain plants can be dried and others no. The plants that i know that can be dried are goldenrod, queen annas lace.

you can use dessicant crystals available at photography shops, silica gel..or search it online for other more natural dessicants
