I have read about the effects sonar has on whales and dolphins but can find little information about effects (if any) on other marine life and the marine ecosystem as a whole. Any ideas?

Try looking at how various toothed whales (mainly dolphins) will use their echo location and sounds to confuse their prey when they are hunting. That might give you an idea of how the same sonar and various sounds given off by boats and subs would effect the fish.

Sonar effects any marine life that uses echolocation. Which is mainly dolphines, whales, and porpoises. Sorry can't help you anymore.

Yes they do. Since the blast of sonar on the ocean floor is so violent, they can damage the whale's ears and disrupt on how the whale navigates, causing them to be beached which kills them.
