Because the Government is basically telling us that we must now be politically correct. I happen to feel this is absolute crap. I believe that you should be able to wish your friends what ever their holiday may be. If they are friends of yours, you will know if they celebrate Kwanza, Hanukkah or Christmas for heaven's sakes. If you are not a close friend and don't know, then wish them Happy Holidays. But I think political correctness is taking all of this too far. The old saying "one bad apple spoils the bushel" sure seems to be working it's way through our lives. I say we stand up and be counted. Here in Tasmania Australia the City Council was going to do away with the traditional "Carols by the Bay" as there were religious Carols being sung as well as contemporary ones. Well the city banned together and said "we want our Carols by the Bay and we want them as they always have been". so the city council backed down and we had our beautiful Carols by the Bay last weekend. My opinion about that is, if you don't believe in it, and you don't want to be a part of it, then don't, but don't try to force your lack of beliefs on someone else. If Christians can wish the Jews Happy Hanakkuh and the Blacks Happy Kwanza, then they can wish us Merry Christmas.

Eh, who knows- everybody has to find SOMETHING to be touchy about this time of year. On the flip side, I saw a show on the God channel the other day when I was flipping past, all about how some Christians are now taking offense to the stores that say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. You can't win!!

Here's a story for you- I once got in trouble for saying "Merry Christmas" to a customer- and I was working at the SANTA DISPLAY at the mall!!!!!!!!!

I don't take offense at all. But I understand, from a business' point of view that they want to welcome all customers, not promote some over others. If you want Jewish people to come into your store, it might be nice to not tell them "Merry Christmas" during Hanuka.

All the noise though is coming from a small group of Christians. Most Christians I know don't mind "happy holidays." A few make a big deal if others don't say "Merry Christmas".

If you want to say whatever it is for your holiday, that's fine. Just don't expect everyone else to follow suit. I shouldn't be required to say "Merry Christmas" in order for you to have a good time.

Don't get me started on this one! It's ridiculous, some people are just so easily offended by the dumbest things! There is nothing wrong with saying Merry Christmas, how is anyone supposed to know what your religions are? People should be happy that someone is saying anything at all to them!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I don't think a lot of people take offense. I think that our culture and perhaps the media is teaching people to be offended by that, when there is no reason at all to be offended.

Jewish friends of mine have wished me Happy Hannukah. I say "thanks! Same to you!"

If someone wishes me well on a particular holiday of theirs, then I say "thanks!"

I do hear a lot of b!tching among Christians these days though if someone dares say "happy holidays." I'm a big fan of saying happy holidays -- there are several holidays around this time, so it's a nice catch-all.

But, if I slip up and say 'Merry Christmas" then I don't think it should ruffle anybody's feathers.

Wouldn't it bother you if every single person you came across wished you a Happy Hanukah or a Happy Kwanzaa? You have to look at it form the other side. It's got to get old having people automatically assume that you're Christian when you're not. I can understand their frustration and I think Christians would feel the same way if the shoe were on the other foot.

Because they do! As simple as that! And thank you, but not all people make a deal out of it. You really need to BEAT IT Jokerson, and I am not joking.

People are over sensitive. If someone told happy ________ (insert holiday here) i would take absolutely no offense because they are trying to be kind...
