Ditka while coaching the 85 Bears to a super bowl got all the publicity and credit, but it was Buddy Ryan's defensive coaching skills that were the real reason the Bears won,as soon as Ryan left the team, the Bears went down the sewer and fired Mike Ditka

Mike Ditka could still coach.
He would not be an effective coach.
His style of coaching is long gone.
With all of the talent he had in Chicago he only went to the Superbowl once.
He was never a real good coach he was a celebrity.

mike is a good guy but was always a little manic with a hairtrigger. he cannot help it. his closest competitor is knight now at teas tech. it is a passionate personality that goes too far every so often. gen. patton was that way, apparently. he would have blown up if not then, later. brief stop in new orleans was proof of that. it is the peter principle all over again. he could hack for many years as a player. that intensity and passion was a huge asset on the field. managers must be able to reign it in and not lose it. just remembered woody hayes of the buckeyes. he may have had the biggest temper of all. remember he kicked the player of any opposing team when he rolled to woody's feet! he lost his job for that. it is a disorder they cannot seem to control. pills will not work.

Yes, but I still like Lovie Smith. Hes a great coach.

Mike Ditka can do anything he wants without risk of consequences. The man is a god among mere mortals.

Yes but I do not think he would want to....He has a sweet deal with ESPN and all the commercials he is doing, and he also needs the time to keep working for the retired players in need.

I don't think so, but there is always that possibility he could still coach. Do you think he will be offered any coaching jobs in the future?

As much as I love Da Coach, no. He would not get along with today's athletes.

Nope, Look what he did at Saints. his mind is too old, he needs to coach at college or high school before he can go back to coach at NFL.

If he don't trade away all his draft picks for an overrated runningback that's going to ruin his career burning blunts.
