Because they're more concerned with making a social "statement" than they are with finding someone who is capable of running our WH.
Last time, they wanted to declare that sex addicts with shady pasts are acceptable presidential material and it slipped pass.
This time, I don't think they'll be so successful.

frequently as a results of fact the well-known GOP has 4 extremely splintered factions that could not come to a consensus. There are the moderates, the tea social gathering, the libertarians and the evangelicals - and although there may be some overlap between the communities, all of them have different perspectives and different agendas. that's why they're having hassle arising with a conceivable candidate for a majority of them to agree on.

The answer to your question is all a matter of what an individual thinks of the candidates, be they reps or dems. I believe Joe Biden would make a very good president. I also think Ron Paul would. I don't agree with everything Ron Paul or Joe Biden say but, in my opinion, they are the best that is going to be offered. Basically your question implied a belief or opinion that the dems do not have a good candidate & I am giving you my opinion that they do.

One could also ask, Why haven't the Republicans come up with a viable Presidential candidate? It is all in one's perspective.

Yea, you're right. Especially when compared to the spectacular offering of the Republican party. People don't what a king (see ..."I am the decider.") and they don't want a theocracy (see most of the Republican candidates).
They also don't want Hillary. But the American people won't get what they want. The two parties will decide who will be the candidates and we will be left with more of the same. It's enought to make you sick.

Because there isn't one. The two they have will not succeed in gaining the presidency for the democrats as America is not yet ready for either a woman or black President.

Pound for Pound Bill Richardson (A governor with Executive Experience, a Ambassador with foreign policy experience, a legislator and a judge) has the best resume of any candidate from any party.

Viable as in what? Your definition of it? Sorry we aren't going to worry about your individual approval, we are presenting FAR better candidates than the republican fear mongering bible thumpers and will smoke the republicans in '08...'12.. and probably '16 as well

Obviously they have no intention of winning the presidency.
Bill Richards should Run with McCain as independents. Neither one is actually a Dem or a Repub.

Dude, there is an appaling lack of talent on the left. Lots of rhetoric and promises but no people who are willing to walk the walk. Too busy protesting and criticizing to come up with any candidate who has a viable platform.
