when you use system restore, restore the comp to a checkpoint you know for sure the computer was acting normally (i.e. well before a virus or an error has been continually occurring or nagging)... It will only restore the computer to the same state as before...your best bet is selecting a checkpoint from a week or 2 ago when you computer was definitely acting normally or before an installed application messed things up...all of your documents and applications will still be there!! Good luck...

System restore doesnt delete personal files or recent work, it only takes the computers basic settings to a time before any major changes were made. E.g. if you that day installed a program it will not have the .exe file and will be reinstalled again.
System restore is there to help correct any mishaps

hope you sort things

System restore will not touch your personal files (e.g., docs, pix, music, e-mails, etc), but it might change the way your computer looks and runs, especially if you recently changed the desktop (i.e., adding icons, etc), or upgraded or added new software. If you don't understand "system restore", you should not use it.
