so why bother? we should do good to others every day of the year, regardless of whether it's Christmas or not.

No. Keep doing it and your face really WILL be one of Peace and Goodwill. It is a mindset. We are what we think.

No it is not dishonest or insincere to put on the "peace and goodwill" face for this time of year. Whether or not you are a naturally jolly person this time of year doesn't mean it's fake to acknowledge and/or participate in the spirit of this particular holiday

Hypocritical is closer to the truth.

Saying it's 'insincere' is just a bit too PC for my taste.
