I am NOT an engineer or pretend to be one, but I have two Uncles that are engineers. One works for Pemex and the other one worked for Moctezuma Cervezeria (beer company). The one for Pemex was let go since these jobs are very political in nautre. Similar to certain government jobs. The people on top choose who they want in their companies. Remember that Mexican law is different than US law. For example, they can discrimate on various things such as your age. I came from Mexico 2 weeks ago and I saw a help wanted sign at a pharmacy and it said you could not be older than 27. I was like OMG, I can't get even a job sweeping floors. If you went to CVS or Walgreens, no way can they directly discrminate based on your age. I am sure many employers get away with it, but not openly. Also, an engineer in the States makes a good starting salary (about 50-55 grand). No way in the wolrd can you even come close in Mexico. Also, in the US you can apply online, go to job fairs etc. In Mexico, you have to be connected. Your not just going to walk off the street with a resume in hand and bingo. Remember, Mexical universities graduate tons of well educated persons sinc education is farely cheap. I have been driven around in taxis by engineers and doctors that cannot find work. Today you are starting to see many middle class Mexicans flocking to the US. Of course, many families do well in Mexico, but they are not persons that have moved in yesterday. They are connected and have lived a lifetimein Mexico. Hope this helps. The good thing, you have a universal career that can be applied anywhere. PS I wish Guadalajara was at the border, than you could work here and cross the border at night and enjoy San Juan De Dios and a huge, delicious shrimp coctail for 5 bucks, the price of a Big Mac meal! I forgot to add this important thing fromm the Mexican constitution, might think twice looking for Mexican employment: Article 32 "Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners under equality of circumstances for all classes of concessions and for all employment, positions, or commissions of the Government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable." Foreigners, immigrants, and even naturalized citizens of Mexico may not serve as military officers, Mexican-flagged ship and airline crew, or chiefs of seaports and airports.

My recommendation is to look at your state's department of transportation website or the US Department of Transportation.
