I'll make this as precise as possible.
SAP is the world’s leading provider of business software – from distinct solutions addressing the needs of small and midsized businesses to enterprise scale suite applications for global organizations.
SAP solutions are categorised in to modules, such as BW (Business warehouse), HR (Human Resources, SD (Sales and Distribution) and so on.
If what you are looking for is to be employed by a company that uses SAP and be an end user of SAP, it is not all that necessary to have a certificate in SAP. Your qualifications and expertise in business functions would get you the job. Most employers train people to use their systems soon after being recruited. However having used SAP before would be a definite advantage for an applicant where they ask for "knowledge of SAP".

OMG. im on SAP right now. SAP is the largest European software enterprise. It stands for Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing. Basically, at my job, I use the software to enter in work requests and purchase requests. Obviously, there are many other uses for SAP such as engineering purchasing, financials, human resources & payroll, materials mgmt (ordering), plant maintenance, sales & dist., etc. Many businesses buy the software to help their company run more efficiently.
