I live in a small town too.
I avoid people all the time. I usually avoid my ex bffs, annoying people, etc.

Yes, I do! Sometimes if I'm at the store and I see someone I know from far off...I go the other direction! Even if you kind of like the person, you just don't feel like talking to them!

Yep always on my IM. One of my old friends writes me everyday but I avoid him by saying I am busy. It gets annoying after a while. I still love him though!

yes, i always try to avoid this guy ryan that likes me, because everyones tells me he's gonna ask me out and i HATE having to say no to people! it makes me feel like a jerk.

Sometimes, usually when I know they're only talking to me to complain about their problems. That, or when I just don't feel like talking.
