Unusual Old Fashioned Names

These kind of names are very popular right now. The names that were popular with the Colonists and Pioneers are popular with parents today, and the names used at the turn of the century and in the 20's and 30's are coming back as well. Sudenly, naming your baby after Great-Grandma Beatrice doesn't seem so awful. Emily, Hannah, Sarah, and Elizabeth, were the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 10th most popular girls names in 1999, respectively. Victoria, Rachel, Olivia, Abigail, Julia, Alexandra, Katherine, Rebecca, Mary, Vanessa, Chloe, Madeline, Caroline, Laura, Cassandra, Claire, and Miranda, were all in the top 100. Old fashioned names for boys are even more popular. Jacob, Michael, Matthew, Joshua, Christopher, Nicholas, Andrew, Joseph, and Daniel were the 1st to 9th most popular names for boys, respectively. In the top 50 alone we find William, John, David, Zachary, Anthony, James, Alexander, Jonathan, Robert, Samuel, Benjamin, Thomas, Nathan, Aaron, Caleb, Adam, and Stephan. Here are some old fashioned style names that are not so popular. A warning on all these names, because this category of names are so popular, any of these names could shoot up on the lists in a short amount of time. It doesn't seem possible to some that Edith or Edwin could become a popular name for babies today, but 20 years ago, who would've thought that Hannah, Abigail, Samuel, and William would be popular names?

NOTE~ Just removed Sophia, Joscelyn, Elaine, Sebastian, and Victor from the lists as all names have entered the top 100 most popular names list.

NOTE~ Also removed Lillian, Audrey, and Evelyn from the lists as they have now entered the top 100 most popular names list as well.
