On your car you'll find a black air filter housing in the engine compartment. The housing is about 8 inches square. On the EX model it will be in the front of the car on the passenger side; other models it may be on the driver's side front.

the housing has four clips that hold the top of the housing to the bottom. The clips are at each side corner. Simply push the clips away from the housing to release them.

then, lift up the top part of the housing to gain access to the removable filter element.

New filters are white. If yours is dark grey or black, replace it. If there are things growing in it, replace it. If you hold it up to the sun (or a light) and you can't see the light through it, replace it.

the clips will just snap back on when you put the top back on and then push the clip in the center.
as a note, make sure all of the clips are outside of the housing before you start snapping them back on or you'll have to take it off and start again.

hope that answers your question

If you open your hood to the left is a black box that should connect to your intake manifold. On the black box should have some clips that you can pop off and it will just hang on the side. Lift the top off of the box enough and you should see the air filter. Remove filter from the box and inspect it, if it's dirty then you should replace it. Car should run better with a new filter.
