Good question and one I haven’t thought much about.

My first idea was to pick Democritus, 460 – 370 BCE, on a day when Leucippus was still his mentor. Normally, Democritus is credited with the idea of the “atoma” from which we take the word “atom”. There is question as to which of the two actually come up with the concept. Then it occurred to me that I speak absolutely no Greek except a few mispronounced words my fraternity forced me to learn. I couldn’t even get a translator since English didn’t exist either. What would we do all day but smile at each other and pat each other on the back in that universal gesture of friendship.

So, I guess I’d pick Samuel Clemens but with the proviso that we spend the day in Heidelberg, his favorite city and one where my German was probably add something to the experience. I would have to have some little thing to add and my now sorry German might be of some small value to us when we went for lunch. lol

I would spend the day with King Tutankhamen and find out many of the mysteries of Egypt including the real reason for his death as there are many good guesses as to why he died but no definite reason. Some say he had an illness others that he was murdered. i would also like to see how the great pyramids were really built.
If King Tut wasn't available maybe Nefertiti would do.

YOU are a "successful professional", and YOU didn't ASK? "Successful professional" now-a-days do a background check AND credit search. Since you "earn well" you could have afforded it. Your fame would have supplied you with a multitude of methods and channels to complete the task, including a private investigator. SHAME ON YOU! Shows that being successful is NOT the result of being smart. YOU married him. Live with it.

There are so many famous people: Jefferson, Blackbeard, Strongbow, Michael Collins, Kepler, Jesus so many to choose from. Too many.

I think I would pick my Father, not so famous outside of my family circle, but he was in WWII, he was at Pearl Harbor and behind enemy lines in France. I think I would go with him to Anizo and stay with him as he moved though North Africa and France. To see my father as a young man (younger then I am now) and learn the world though his eyes. Maybe it would help me better a better refection of him instead of the pale one I am now

I have to agree with Thomas G. Just getting to know my family members in their more formative years would be priceless. Beyond that, even a moment with Thomas Jefferson would be unforgettable. Washington, since he is the only president to have freed his own slaves and left them a pension, a moment with him would be amazing.

Sharon Christa McAuliffe, the exuberant teacher-turned-astronaut, would be among my highest choices. But with one, somewhat morbid difference: I'd like to speak with her wherever she is, now. I want to know if that exuberance lived on and if she carries any regrets. I think, actually, she would be my first choice.

Judas Iscariot.
I'd like to talk with him to understand the political pressure that was brought to bear on him by the High Priests to betray Jesus. I'd ask him why he followed Jesus, what he thought Jesus could do for the oppressed jews and why it all changed.
Then I'd go for dinner, have some sea-bass, maybe some haggis and finish it off with a Laphroig!

Albert Einstein would be my first choice, and Carl Sagan would be my next choice if for some reason ol' Albert was unavailable. I have so many questions I would love to discuss with the both of them...

This is a tough choice...I can't pick just one:

Jesus, because I would love to know what really went down back then.

Huey Long, would love to hear his theories and see what could've been.

Helen Keller-an amazing, brilliant woman with ideas far ahead of her time, I would like to converse with her

Mother Jones-I would love to have her energy, would love to converse with her also

Rachel Carson-another brilliant woman with courage and strength that stuck to her guns...I want that for myself!

Great question!

EDIT-Wish I got assignments like this for school, at least it's interesting. You should've seen my last project -- BORING!

I'd have to say Ben Franklin, one of the great intellectuals from U.S. history. I hear he liked to party & was popular with the ladies.
But then again, I dig "gitch'er sexy on. . .again's" choice. Lucile Ball was one stone cold fox back in her prime.
