As long as they agreed with it?

Neo-cons have done what they could to create a dictatorship by giving the executive branch more power than it has had in decades. They've created huge government agencies, and drained our funds for unending wars. I thought Republicans today wanted less government, and less spending but you wouldn't know it based on Bush's actions, and the Republican congress that has supported him.

I expect Democrats to spend money, so I don't see much difference economically between the two parties-social issues are the primary difference now, and even then, moderate Republicans and Democrats have much more in common with each other than any of us do with right-wingers.

From what I see posted on this board that would seem to be the case. Actually I don't believe this board reflects the country in general and so I would say only the radicals, neocons and ubercons would not mind a dictatorship. Other Republicans would not like it at all.

They wouldn't mind a Dictatorship much. But what they really want is a Divinely annointed King, under the guidance of the Churches.

You may have noticed that they act like Bush is a King. Although the only resemblance I find between him and Royalty are the negative effects of inbreeding.

Recent Heritage foundation polls discovered that Democrats are the party of the wealthy, so why would the less wealthy Republican want a dictatorship? It's usually the poor fighting the aggression of the rich. In our case it's now the Dem's.

well not traditional conservatives, but certainly the neocons who are in control today. they threw traditional conservatism out the window and have done all they can to increase the power and influence of the executive. we're already in a dictatorship of sorts: they do what they want, they dont care what others think about them, and they answer to nobody (no accountability whatsoever lol). oh the madness of king george.....lol

No! Take a look at the positions of Democrats and Republicans. Republicans want less government and more freedom. Democrats want more government and control of the people by government. I don't think they want one dictator though they certainly want a Democrat dictator class running the US. This would be closer to the Communist Party than a Dictatorship though why split hairs.

in spirit.
Let Bush do anything and everything he wants.
Condemn Dems for speaking out against him.
block any attempt to have meaningful elections.
Block any move by Dems to accomplish anything, then call them obstructionists.
Blame everything on Dems, even the war they demanded.
Prevent Americans different for you from having the same rights you have, and say they want special privileges.

but call our government a Democracy.

That's what they've voted for every time since 1980. Of course, in 1992 and 1996, they didn't get it.
