I have shouted at it, kicked it and shaken it (as far as one can shake a heavy washing machine) Why oh why does this always happen at Christmas when one hasn't any more money for a new one?

The first category this came up with on the list was jokes and riddles...if only!

Thanks for all the suggestions.... The launderette of course is an option but its nearly 10 pm here in London and I wanted the clothes in the washing machine for work tommorow as its an important day, thats why I am so frustrated.

SPUD Your wise words are noted, but I fear you are not going to ingratiate yourself on here if the rest of your answers are like this, your first one.
This forum is not all about technical or formal questions, P & S is also about...oh what the heck, suit yourself!

Stadium Arcadium... Yes, I was trying to reach the more sympathetic on here for a kind word or two, not a crime I think. Yes, I am aware its not the worst thing to happen to anyone but it did seem like it when it happened.

Isnt it just the way it happens. I have never had a machine break down on any other day other than Friday when you know you cannot have a chance of getting anyone to look at it. My fridge broke down recently and I made the fool mistake of buying a Fisher Paykel. Only Fisher Paykel themselves can service the silly thing as of the computer components. You try getting a Fisher Paykel serviceman! You basically have to promise them your first born child. I waited a week and then my hubby missed the call on him mobile to say the guy was 30minutes away so he didnt come. We asked them why, when I had waited home all day. 'Oh if the serviceman doesnt get an answer he assumes you are not home' 'But why not phone the home phone then as my wife has been home all day waiting?' 'Oh we don't know why' Had to wait two more days and then it cost a fortune to fix.
As for the washing have you got a family member nearby or are you friendly with a neighbour you could bot on to do your wash. I know if I get behind heaven help me as I can never catch up.
Oh and check something isnt stuck in the pump!
Good luck anyway

When I first got my labrador, Dixie, she would poop and pee everywhere around the house. You can get puppy pads at a local store, and you put them around the house, where her favorite places to go are, and next time she does it will be absorbed in the puppy pad. Diapers may help until she understands she can't go inside anymore. We have a special dog room in our basement, that has dog toys, a couch, food, water, and other sorts of things. The room isn't finished, so it doens't matter what they do in it while we are gone. After that room we let her out free in the house, and now she is turning 2 and she has never had any accidents since then. Maybe you could find an unfinished room (maybe a storage room) to put your dog in. One reason your dog could be doing this is if she is too spoiled. I spoiled my dog way too much, and she started thinking "Hey I can do whatever I want, because I won't get in trouble." You can start yelling at her, but never smack her. That will make dogs do it more. Or maybe she is not outside enough. Try to take her about every 30 minutes or so, until she can hold it longer. I hope this helped.

I suggest that you turn your computer off and put the laundry into bags and take it to the nearest laundromat ... and quit complaining. You can do some last minute shopping while you are waiting, or you can try reading a good book. Have fun, put the laundry away as soon as you get home, but ONLY after you have hung a big OUT OF ORDER sign on the broken machine (put some nice drawings of holly or cookies around so it's decorative) ...

I believe the answer to your question can be found in Murphey's Law (provided that your question truly is "Why oh why does this always happen at Christmas when one hasn't any more money for a new one?"). The law states in it's most simple form, "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way."

If that is not your question, I'm not sure what is...

Let me help you out with forming questions. Here are some examples of them:

What do you expect someone on Yahoo! Answers to do about this?

Are you expecting someone on the Internet to do your laundry for you?

Are you expecting someone to post back with a little compassion for you, since it's so close to the holidays?

If these are not sufficient for you to begin formulating questions of your own, may I suggest visiting your local elementary school?

That would be the worst thing that could happen to me at the moment, I hated not having a machine for a few days (waiting for the repair man to come out). As the washing seems to build up double quick and takes ages to clear once the machine is working.

Bad news - my washing machine broke down six months ago and I still haven't been able to afford a new one yet. You have only two choices for the time being -
1. Ask a neighbour if you could borrow their machine for a load or two
2. Trek to the local launderette
Good luck

It maybe something simple. Washing machines aren't the most complicated of machines. Most parts can be cheaply replaced, in fact the two most expensive components are the PCB (the circuit board which contains the programs) and the motor.

Either of these may set you back upto £100 to replace. Most of the time it is something simple.

The last time my washing machine broke down was when I came home from holiday on the 24th Dec a few years ago.
This year I needed 4 new tyres for my car last week. Ah well.

Well there's the problem, your suppose to shake it , kick it then shout at it.
Really though what's it not doing? What brand name or model?
Has it been reliable to this point or has it been acting up just prior to stopping? Reorganize your time for now and see if with a few more details if someone can't walk you through a fix it yourself.

If it doesn't' rain it pours!
I would go to a Laundromat and get it done ,or you can do it the old way wash everything by hand and rinse in the laundry tub or bath tub!

What about a neighbour ! Can you ask anyone for a favour?
If I was your neighbour I would help you out!
