The argument would run something like this:

1) Evolution predicts we should all be heterosexual.
2) We're not all heterosexual.
3) Homosexuals must have been designed.
4) There must be a designer (i.e. God).

OK, so the first premise doesn't work, and point 3 is a bit of a non sequitur... but it's no worse than plenty of other arguments on this kind of topic. And yet we never hear fundies say, 'My son is a homosexual, and if that ain't the strongest evidence for the existence of Almighty God, I don't know what is!'

Why not? What am I missing?

#Sigh# Please don't waste energy telling me that evolution does allow for homosexuality. OF COURSE IT DOES!

I'm well aware that the argument itself is rubbish. But there are plenty of rubbish arguments made against evolution or for the existence of God. Why not this one?

Actually, I'm well aware of the answer to that question too, but I found the idea amusing.

Actually there are several scientific theories that support homosexuality and evolution being compatible. First in an over-populated ecosystem, homosexuality increases due to lack of viable females and to decrease population growth. There is also a sociological theory that homosexuality aids a species by having individuals free from child-rearing chores either to help raise the young of others who are over-burdened, or have less resources; or to innovate and try new things to benefit the species. It has been theorized that because of our lack of reproduction responsibility that we are the carriers of culture, innovation, and artistic endeavor for the human race. Sounds rather noble, doesn't it?

properly, you have form of reported it your self. the 1st premise does not artwork. And in good judgment, if the 1st premise does not have absolute unshakeable precise actuality, the the remainder of the argument falls. I want i might desire to flow alongside with it, with the aid of fact i admire your thinking, however the reality is that there is no longer something in evolution that predicts we could continuously all be heterosexual. All evolution predicts is that there is adequate interest of the variety that effects interior the perpetuation of the species (which in human beings potential heterosexual sexual intercourse). intercourse is enjoyable with a view to confirm we save doing it, and randomly we are possibly to do adequate with the different intercourse to get some being pregnant going on. yet gay interest (the two lady and male) is purely advantageous via evolution. So - loopy with the aid of fact the fundamentalist argument may well be, this argument will no longer counter it properly, i'm afraid. on no account ideas, there are multiple different the thank you to handle people who have faith in smart layout. EDIT: you're suitable, it fairly isn't any worse a controversy than maximum of those at the instant used. Apologies for no longer having totally liked your rationale in asking this!

well if you think back to the old rubbish that is the bible, you'll see there was a MAN and a WOMAN created, these , if created by a 'god', would be nature.

However, if 'god' wanted homosexuality he would have made other couples defining them

Hetero-Adam and Eve
Female Homosexuality- Belle and Susan [shall we say]
Male Homosexuality- Tom and Dave [lol]

see how the whole theory of religion doesn't work [in the Christan point of view]

I'm a strong non believer in religion, so there are many other points of view yo should take into account, for example Buddhists, what is there belief on Homosexuality?

I think everyone is born bisexual and God let us pick the right path, for example,a man will go for the woman and the woman will go for the man. But,some of us like me,chose the other path.
I just dont understand God! I am born Catholic but i still cant get the idea of teachings.I am now practising Buddhism now and its a lot easier!

Good luck mate

I always thought of it as...
If God gave us opportunities to do things [as my mom says], then he'd must have created homosexuality as an opportunity for us to all come together as a human race. Or as an opportunity for people to not discriminate anymore because there'd be too many things to discriminate us on.

This may not make sense to you. But then again I am agnostic...

What you're missing is that evolution IS deviation from the "norm"

If nothing evolved there would be no such thing as evolution would there?

Although evolution proves that most species of animals would be straight, there are animals that may enter into gay relationships other than humans.

I dont think that god only designed gays... I hate how some gay people feel so targeted and diffrent from everyone else, lol and the predictions of evolution are not proof.
