1. our atmosphere deflects meteors all the time

also the moon could be a good bit older than the earth according to some scientists

Think what happens to meteors that get too close to the Earth.
They burn up. (the great majority of them)
Why?
What does the Earth have that the Moon does not?

Its "1" ... but also the moon is geologically "dead" meaning that it has no earthquakes or volcanoes to change the landscape as well.
