Yes, BUT DONT DRIVE WITH A LEAKY BATTERY. They are not that expensive. Just replace it.
I had an old beater back in the day, when I was a kid, a 76 chrysler newport. it overcharged my battery and exploded. Blew the top casing off the battery and half the side. Scared the crap out of me too. I didn't care much it was a beater and I was young. Now when I think back, it was not real bright. But the battery would have been worth more than the car.
Anyway, I hosed the motor and compartment down real good with water and then I continued to drive it around with the blown up battery for about 6 months. Then I junked the car. SO... yes a leaky battery will still work but

Don't drive it this way.

If it leaks from the top then the electrolite is allowing the chemical process to proceed, and you technically can still drive, you'll be spilling sulfuric acid all over the place. H2SO4 is highly toxic and will "eat" through a lot of things.

If all the electrolite drains out the bottom, then the battery will not work at all and you'll be spilling the acid all over until it's drained.

Remove that battery from you car NOW and wash the area below the battery with baking soda to neutralize any acid.

I once had a battery leak and it melted the wires and destroyed wiring harness.

Do it NOW!

Good Luck.
