Because then the rest of them would become Allies, and blow the #$%^ out of us! Ever heard of the saying that there is strength in numbers?

Well, there are negative a positive results from an isolationist mentality. For example, during WW2, we took an isolationist policy until we were actually attacked. It could be argued that the war lasted longer, since the US wasn't there from the beginning. But it would also be argued that the US got into that war for good reasons, and didn't push ourselves in until we knew we needed to join.

Also, even if we are able to blow the **** out of anyone who attacks us, might it be better if we can prevent the attack? And save not only our citizens, but those of the attacking country? It is sort of a hindsight 20/20 situation.

For the most part, it is better to form international allies who you feel do the right thing, then act together as allies. And the allies should respect other positions. That way they can give each other criticism. That's my opinion.

Easy for Jefferson to say: Napoleon wasn't coming after him. But Hitler had the means to come after almost anybody, and so do terrorists. To be America-first is right, but to be isolationist is to be a fool.

Every time we have gone isolationist in modern times we have gotten into a war. I don't think it is a good idea to do that agai. That said, we should also not be butting into everyone else's business either.

We do a lot of money laundering overseas, which keeps the American economy running. So we need strong positions around the world to keep us afloat.

The way things are going, the country that America is likely to go to war with is China-Russia-Iran-Germany-France... and a host of others.

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

Ideally, we would have to start out solvent. Not dead-dick broke and financed to the gills owing everyone with any money at all.

What a nice sentiment...

"we blow the **** out of you, the end."

And just in time for Christmas!

P.S. Thomas Jefferson, as wise as he was did not foresee globalization like we have today.
