I'm sending a letter to a female couple with the same last name and I'm not sure how to address them. Is it Dear Ms. Smith and Ms. Smith? Seems silly since they both have the same last name. Looking for the proper way to address them.

If they are a couple or related, you can address it to A and B Smith. If they are not related, you need separate names. "Messrs" is the abbreviation for the French "Messieurs", the female equivalent is "Mesdames" but as I said, only use it if the two are related. If they have a sense of humour and you know them well, you could try "The Mesdames Smith" but best not.

If you know them and the letter is friendly, why bother with the "Smith" part at all? Why not just address it to A and B?

You address it alphabetically listed:

Dear Ms. Angelica Smith and Ms. Brianna Smith, or
Dear Ms. Angelica and Ms. Brianna Smith (less formal)

Address the envelope like this:

Ms. Angelica Smith
Ms. Brianna Smith
Address goes here
and here

Another option if you don't want to use titles or put the two on separate lines:

Angelica Smith and Brianna Smith
Address goes here
and here
