1. They go to tiny country-side schools or are home schooled.

2. Almost everything must be imported from elsewhere, so that adds extra costs. Iceland is also a very small market and in certain fields there is not enough competition, so prices stay high. The Icelandic currency, krona, is to blame too for the high prices.

3. People in Iceland go to geothermal swimming pools, watch TV, visit relatives and friends, travel (both inside Iceland and abroad) and read books, among other things.

4. We have a lot of Icelandic names to choose as first names. Many people name their children after someone else in the family, for example the child's grandparents. Icelandic children generally get a surname that is made out of their father's name (in genitive case) + "son" (which means son) and "dóttir" (daughter). So if Jón has a son, the child's surname will be Jónsson. If Jón has a daughter, she will be Jónsdóttir.

5. The coast around almost entire Iceland is habitable. The middle of the country is inhabitable and nobody lives there.
