2 months and 1 week ago i fractured and broke in half my tibia bone while playing soccer. The doctor's placed 4 long and quite thick needles in my bone. They where sticking out of my leg and where connected by this metal thing. It is supposed to hold my bone. Sorry i cant tell you what it is called because I live in a foraign country, it is mostly used for children anyway. Anyways today i went to the doctor and they took it off. Also, they put a cast on because i am going for a trip with my family. The doctor said its safer with a cast. My question is how much more will it take for my leg to recover fully so i could play sports again. I am 13 years old and i am 171 cm tall if that matters. Also everyday i ate a high dose of vitamin D and calcium and all this other crap for bones. Thanks for your help.

The tibia bone heals very slowly when compared to other bones. It may take 3-4 and up to 6 months to heal. Since you're younger, it could take less time, but stay off it and listen to your doctors. If it doesn't heal quicker, then a bone stimulator can help. What they put on you was an external fixator which is that big metal thing around your leg. It takes time but you'll be back before you know. Hang in there!

Your bone will heal fairly fast. I know... that doesn't help. Most long bones heal very easily once the union is made. Stay off the leg as long as your doctor tells you to. If you go back and put weight on it too soon, you could have what is called a "non-union." Look it up on Google. I would expect your leg will heal fine within 8 weeks.

Good luck my friend.

Yes. He will recover well and quickly too. But if you are worried then do not wait 1 week just see the "ortho doc" as soon as possible. I have not been able to open the X'Ray. Other then this observation you already have the advice of two other very Professional and good care givers.

Wow that's a long time. Only your doctor will know when it's safe to play sports again. Good Luck!
