I sweare, if I didn't hate Braxton Hicks contractions.. if they were named something like Charlston Hicks contractions, I would SO use the name Braxton for a little boy! I think it's really cute.
BUT, considering the circumstances, I'll NEVER use it.
Anyone else ever thought this?

Never though of that, I wonder if the doctor who they named it the condition after was Braxton Hicks? I will have to google it and see. Too bad, it is a nice name.
LOL her it is...
History
Braxton Hicks are named after the English doctor who first described them. In 1872, John Braxton Hicks investigated the latter stages of pregnancy and noted that many women felt contractions without being near birth.[1] This process was usually painless but caused women confusion as to whether or not they were going into actual labor. It has since been found that Braxton Hicks' contractions are much less noticeable during exercise, whereas real contractions are not.

Actually, I think you should actually name the baby Braxton Hicks, like have Hicks as his middle name. I don't care if it's the name of false contractions, I think it's cool-sounding. Plus it's sort of funny. I know what you mean, though- I thought Colby Jack was such a cool name for a boy- until I realized I'd seen the name on a packet of shredded cheese.

If I met a little boy named Braxton, I wouldn't think of Braxton-Hicks! If you've experienced Braxton-Hicks, you may feel negatively about the name. .but I don't think many people would make the association. Many people don't even use the term "Braxton-Hicks", I call it "false labor" like many people.
I would use the name if you love it! I think you'd need to get over the associations for you to name your son without feeling negatively about the name, though. But hey, people name their daughters Lorelei (mythological siren), and Reagan (girl from the exorcist).. and no one seems to make bad associations. Go for it!
