Would you rather have a PhD in Marxism (or maybe some other more mainstream degree) from Harvard University like I do or look as good as Jessica Simpson and have a similarly lucrative career based on your good looks.

mutterhals: MIlla Jovovich hot is an oxymoron. At least it has been for about 10 years.

Uhhh....I don't really have a PhD in Marxism from Harvard. There is no such thing as a PhD in Marxism!

How about the best of both worlds? I commend Natalie Portman's outlook on life, her passion for education, her humanitarian work in places like Uganda and her support for FINCA (microfinancing projects in 3rd world countries to help their societies become more economically stable, especially women). She is a physically beautiful woman that graduated from Harvard with a degree in psychology.

See, there are plenty of people that not only have good looks, but are intelligent and generous at heart too. But just because someone is attractive, it doesn't always equal success. If a person is relying solely upon their looks to make their way into this world, sooner or later they are going to be disappointed when their attractiveness doesn't pay off and they have no other marketable skills they can use to support themselves. Additionally, no one should feel they don't have much to offer just because they are not a physically attractive person. If you look no further than the physical, you could be passing up on someone who could be a positive impact on your life.

But to answer your question, I'll take the PhD any day of the week. Beauty is fleeting, but knowledge and wisdom withstands the test of time.

Why Harvard? Any Accredited university is perfectly acceptable to receive a PhD from. Harvard just means you spent way too much money to get the same thing from a school that charged 3 times less.

Well first get a PhD in something more useful...oh wait your from Harvard, Gore came from there too....okay see the connection.

Now why couldn't you have both a PhD and a career based on your looks? Dolph Lundgren went to MIT....and graduated.

I do not have or want a PHD in Marxism, but I am decreed and look hot. Not getting paid as well as Jessica Simpson and I do not care, she is not anything but fluff and is over paid for doing nothing. ♥

I'd rather have a PhD in something I'm interested in. But if it had to be Marxism (can you even get a degree in that or would that fall under philosophy or poli-sci?) I'd rather look like Ms. Simpson.

I'd rather have the PhD but in a more mainstream field. That way I can have a career that will allow me a private life with luxuries, but not have to be chased around by the paparazzi.

PhD for sure and in something very different. It would be more fun to talk with the knowledge learned than worrying about looking in the mirror all the time and being chased by cameras.

A PhD! Jessica Simpson is a horrible role model for lots of girls! I would rather have a few brains.

Do I have to have Jessica Simpson's brain along with her looks? If I could keep my own brain I would take the looks over the degree. And by the way...all of you who are saying that looks fade and knowledge is forever...ask someone with dementia. Knowledge fades too. Get the most out of what you've got is what I say...and I'm sure even Jessica would have to agree with that!

PhD, I don't think Jessica Simpson is attractive at all, however if you said Audrey Tautou or Angelina Jolie maybe I would choose beauty over brains.
