Hey...I like you. You have a superb outlook on this thing. And its true....it seems the majority of little kids (not all of course) are being raised to become strumpets.
Lucky us....a generation of trailer trash females married to hillbillies like Kevin Fedrline.

you have a brilliant mind to see this, or maybe its just that all of your purity hasnt been stripped away by these people under the influence of these unseen evil forces. Yes youre right, its all a organized plan to put the masses of young women and older women in a mentality such as you just described which leads to catastrophic results, example: britney spears. Of course what this does is cause the men to follow and act out a similar way which causes destructive behavior, I think madonna is probably the head whore. But it really boils down to the devil tempting these young eves with the same fruit. Thats why its important for the parents to be very involved in these kids lives and to teach good morals to their children. No man wants to marry a woman with that mentality, so we have a lot more fornication going on, a lot more std's, a lot more drug addicts, hence a large majority of humanity heading down the wrong path. Make sense?

Whoo! I think I love you......!
Yes yes yes, it is stupid wh o re fantasy, not girl power. These rejects on tv are teaching girls (where are the parents to stop this inanity) that they don't have to do a dam n thing but be a pretty airhead and they'll get what they want....and if not, let's throw a tantrum cuz I'm a girl and I can, and if you don't kiss my azz you're jealous (if you're a woman) or a pig (if you're a man).
Makes it hard for real women out there who know that equality (both ways) is about an equal opportunity, a chance to prove yourself, not something to be handed to any brain dead waste of air; who know respect is earned, not granted automatically.
It will never change until parents do.

I also agree and am discusted by this current generation's culture of stupidy equaling cool. I hate reading questions on here that are in IM shorthand, I hate the puposely spelling words inccorectly example (if you really think the word "was" is spelled "wuz" you seriously have to go to school.) And it's not only highschool kids, college kids aren't any better. I was in college last year, a 28yr old , with a bunch or 18-21 yr olds. And this was a good, private institution, they didn't allow just any idiot n this school, but some of these kids (mostly women) just acted like complete tards.
I may sound like the grumpy old man, but I seriously hope that when my daughter is in her teens that this type of thing comes to an end or calms down a bit. She's 7 now and she speaks and spells better than some I've seen on yahoo answers, and in the malls.
At least I know when these kids get older, my job won't replace me with someone younger.

I TOTALLY agree with you! I have never seen such young people so worried about their 11 year old boyfriend, etc. And you're right when you say this is going to lead into these girls being treated really bad. I have a 7 year old nephew, and his parents are always going about what little girl is going to be his girlfriend next...they're practically raising a little player! Parents really need to take control over their teenagers lives, and stop trying to be their "friends". As a parent, YOU have say over who they hang out with, what they wear, etc. And if your daughter grows up to be just like Britney Spears, it IS your fault to an extent. Young girls need to realize that when they dress suggestively, they are not going to attract "husband" material in the future.

The power of women over men is the power to seduce. We may have other powers as well, but basically the fact that a man will do anything I ask if I take my bra off gives me power over him, of a kind that men can't imagine.
It's a pity that Spice Girls, Britney Spears etc. are regarded as "role models" for girls, because they don't really have a role. They just look good on television. It isn't difficult to find women who are possible role models (how about Florence Nightingale, Grace Hopper and Margaret Thatcher) but it means knowing a bit of history and biography, and schools are incapable of teaching either.

I disagree. While the phrase "girl power" was coined by the Spice Girls, it does not refer to "all women in the media." Girl Power is something that women need in their lives. Young girls need to realize that they can do anything that men can, and to me, the term "Girl Power" is the perfect expression of that. I am not saying that the pop image is that expression, but the fact that women can be in positions of power, they can run businesses, be CEOs, be moms and go into space says it all. The phrase is not what is hurting today's children; it is the emphasis put on it. The fact that whenever someone says "Girl Power," people immediately think of Britney Spears is not my fault, nor should my children think that just because these idiots in Hollywood are expressing their "Girl Power" in this manner that all "Girl Power is bad. It can be a very powerful thing if channeled correctly.
I commend you on taking more control over your daughter's life, but also wonder why it took you until she was 16. If this became a problem earlier on, why didn't you nip it in the bud when it started. Nevertheless, as long as she (and all young women) understands that people in the media are photographed not necessarily for us to look up to but for us to realize what we do not want to become, I think they'll all be fine.

I see "girl power" as an empowerment phrase for smart successful women who are independent. It is getting confused with celebrity stupidity though and a bunch of idiotic spoiled rotten brats feeling they are above everyone else. Kids have to realize that they have to pick and choose the right role models in life and generally the best ones they can find are within their own household. Not on TV.

It depends on a child's raising and their will power. I'm 17 and very head strong I do have a boyfriend and yes we do have sex but that doesnt mean Im going to become dumb and sexy just to get his attention. I'm smart and I know this and aint no man going to stop me from being bettering myself by going to college. If he doesnt like it well f*ck him. Peer pressure and the children that are in the schools are just as responsible as the celebs if you want to play the blame game. As far as the language how does your 16 year old talk to Brittany Spears? She doesnt does she? Its the children from school and as much if not more your going to try and stop it you cant stop her from talkin like it when she's not around you. My mom taught me better than that and I know how damn stupid all these celebs are.

first off; I agree
Secondly, people saying how celebrities influence their children: You shouldn't count on Celebrities to raise your daughters, of course.
Girl power has turned into the power to be easy, the power to be trashy, the power to be desperate, and I could go on about the low quality of standards our youth have.
Because it's not just the girls fault if they open their legs once and are stuck with a responsibility for 18 years; it's the guy's (or his parent/guardian) too for not teaching him better.
We need less people like that in the world, and they need to be eliminated fast.

I agree 100%! These girls are in a hurry to grow up, dress half naked, and more and more of them are sleeping around or doing other sexual acts in order to be liked. It's very disturbing indeed, and I fear for my own daughter when she gets to be a teen. My hope for her is that she'll be a big time book worm and not get involved in this sort of nonsense. I'd rather raise a nerd with some self respect than a cute little hoochie that will do anything (and I do mean anything ) to be liked.
