high frequency noises go by me! i now can't hear my phone. i use to be very aware of ALL noises but noticed the other day i couldnt hear the ambulance that was coming toward me. could this be a problem of not paying attention or is this a sign that i'm losing my hearing?

I lost half my hearing to illness 4yrs ago it started very slowly just like you...couldn't hear stuff...people moaned I had the telly on to loud etc.
Get yourself checked don't leave it to late like I did

well i think you should go to the doctor and get it checked out. you could be losing your hearing but at the same time you need to try to pay attention to thing on so you can see what the problem is.

Maybe you are losing your hearing, maybe the oven lost its ding. Maybe you're absorbed in your thoughts and have become a bit absent-minded to your surroundings. If you're concerned, please visit a hearing center. They'll be very happy to see you.
